Presley Ava Mitchell

Presley Ava Mitchell

Excited to announce our @forrthecity Spotlight Student of the Month for May, Ms. Presley Ava Mitchell. Presley was told she would have childhood health problems that would prevent her from having a sense of normalcy. Yet, she has overcome them all!

Presley attends Moore Square and has been on the A/B honor roll every quarter. Presley is thankful for her village — Stanley and Shirley Mitchell, her Aunt Laura Davis, Ashley Love, Brandon Davis, Donald and Patricia Carrington, her principal Shane Barham, and Dr. Harold Overcash.

Presley aids her friends in mental health crises, and has helped her mother be more aware of those signs. Please join us in congratulating Presley on her Student of the Month selection!

Gabriel Kofi Jeffrey

Gabriel Kofi Jeffrey

Our Spotlight Student of the Month for April 2024.

Gabriel has worked hard in school to make the honor roll. He is taking Spanish for High School in middle school and improved his grade to an 88 and it continues to get better. Gabriel also brought up his social studies grade to an 88. He continues to work hard and practice what he's learned last summer "to really give your work your best effort." This lesson was brought to him again from the lessons he learned at FoRR the City Basketball Camp.

Gabriel is also in the YMCA leadership class where he gets the chance to show new members how things operate, and works hard to voluntarily show how leaders should grow and develop their skills. He is also a member of the Teen Youth Development at church (Watts Missionary Baptist Church) shows others the things he's learned can be lessons we share with others in our lives. He has worked hard to grow and be a better student, friend and son.
